3 school children trapped and burnt to death in Trotro
Three school children were burnt to death at Amansie Central of the Ashanti Region when the commercial bus (Trotro) they were commuting on caught fire. The sad incident specifically at Huu in the Amansie Central.
According to reports gathered by Ghanaeducation.org, another minor suffered severe burns from the fire and has been receiving treatment at a local health facility for treatment.
The pupils were identified as schoolchildren of the Beginners Educational Complex in Amansie Central. According to the background information received, the school’s official school bus had developed a fault while transporting the learners home, hence, opted to use the commercial vehicle to complete the journey.
Eyewitnesses at the Edwenase-Huu road revealed that the commercial vehicle suddenly burst into flames, trapping all passengers. Some of the passengers escaped unhurt.
“They were six in number. Their school bus had developed a fault and so their driver had to transfer them to this commercial vehicle which was heading to the same destination. The bus caught fire shortly after it sped off.
“There were fuel products and gas cylinders. At a point, the rescue mission was impeded due to the intensity of the blaze. There was an explosion at some point. We were helpless,” the eyewitness said.

The details of the school children who lost their lives were not known at the time of filing this story.
Other properties that were affected by the Trotro while in flames were three motorbikes, a mobile money container and a power line.
This plunged a greater section of the community in darkness. The charred bodies of the victims have been deposited at the morgue.
Residents and family members are still in shock. The development has sparked renewed calls on the government to improve network connectivity at the enclave to help deal with such emergency services.
The police have started investigations into the incident.
