Science and Health Facts: Artificial sweeteners increase the need for sugar
Studies show that trying to replace sugar with artificial sweeteners often increases the consumption of sweet and calorie-dense foods.
This is because aspartame and other surrogates do not give the body as much energy as sugar. The right amount of calories is not coming in, and the desire to eat something sweet does not disappear.
If you want to give up sugar, it is better not to switch to its substitutes, but simply try to reduce its amount in your diet. It turns out it’s not that hard.
Science and Health Facts: Cutting back on sugar improves leptin sensitivity

Insulin levels rise in response to sugar intake, and persistent hyperinsulinemia leads to an increase in plasma leptin concentrations.
Just three days of overeating carbohydrates increase “satiety hormone” levels by 28%. Moreover, table sugar, especially fructose, which is part of it, can worsen the sensitivity to leptin and provoke weight gain.
