If you do not check what we are going to share with her, you will only waste time, effort, money, and energy and still never get a job.

How To Identify Job Scams and Interview Invitations

Do not allow yourself to be scammed through a job scam.

  1. A job scammer or scamming company will ask you to pay a registration fee or money for something like an aptitude test. Once you hear something like that, know that you are about to be scammed. No serious and genuine business seeking to hire you will require you to pay for an aptitude test or an interview.
  2. Do not border to attend an interview you have been invited to when you did not apply for the job. Some of these Job vacancy scammers will send you a text message inviting you for an interview for a job you know you never applied for. Why border yourself attending?
  3. If you receive an invitation without a company name, either by text or call, suspect the possibility of a scam. If they leave a number, call the number and ask if the interview is a direct interview, or if it will be done by a recruiting agency. If it is a recruiting agency, do not worry yourself. Very often they will ask you to pay some money upon arrival. The jobs they have posted are never real, but fake. Many of these guys have posted several of these jobs on sites like Jiji.com and are destroying the reputation of the site and its owners.
  4. The message will say “interview/job briefing”: whatever job briefing means I don’t know! Do you know? Just watch out.
  5. You will see HR Admin in the message instead of the company name.
  6. If you call their number, they will be reluctant to give info on the company. If this happens, you must know that this is just another group of criminals trying to play their plans out. Do not border to go for the interview.
  7. Another annoying group of criminals is those who take over the busy paths in market centres with white papers on which have been printed things like “An American company needs 1000 workers” Bla Bla Bla… These are all not real, you will call them, and they will say come for training. You go for the training and end up being asked to pay money for the job or something.
  8. Many of the so-called Job agencies are criminal agencies. There are genuine ones though, but how to find them is a problem. These job agencies are duping many people seeking jobs.

It is time for us to help each other overcome and identify these job scams in Ghana. If you have any experiences in the hands of these scammers, kindly share via a comment here so that others can learn and avoid them too.
