My prayer for Ghana Education Service (GES) as prayed by Hon Jerry Akporhor
Dear God,
1. Make those in power restless until they see the need to provide classrooms for our numerous basic schools in embarrassing structures and deathtraps. Ghana is not too poor. If we have money enough to waste on useless projects and steal a chunk of the allocated funds, this should not be too much for us.
2. Give Director General, Minister of education and NaCCA Boss sleepless nights until they see the need to supply our schools with the new Curriculum and its accompanying textbooks for proper implementation.
Teachers cannot continue using their meager salary to purchase textbooks, internet data, and other materials.
Parents are struggling to purchase Common exercise books not to talk of buying textbooks, which even one cost more than all the exercise books put together.
3. Send your strongest Angels to Lash the executives of our teacher unions to wake up to their core mandates and teachers’ teachers’ welfare.
Their long silence is depressing.
We are sleeping in Hamlet’s meant for pigs in disconnected areas of this country; they are using our dues to build big hostels in cities which we never benefit from.
They have transmogrified into financial companies competing for interest and forgotten their core mandate.
