President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has commissioned some ultramodern projects for the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) on Friday, 22 December 2023.
The projects include GAF Critical and Emergency Centre which is intended to alleviate pressure at some Departments of the 37 Military Hospital by serving GAF personnel in Burma Camp and the public, Seth Obeng Barracks in Burma Camp. This project includes a living room, two bedrooms, a kitchen, and a standard sanitary facility for each soldier.

The President also commissioned the administration block of the Ghana Military Academy (GMA) at Whistler Barracks, Teshie. The new administration block which has 48 offices and two conference rooms, forms part of a project for the remolding of GMA. Other projects inline with the remolding includes a two-storey GMA lecture block, three-storey GMA hostel with 240 self-contained rooms, and two-bedroom four-storey block of 16 flats for platoon commanders.

The rest are the newly constructed two-storey military academy auditorium with 640 seating capacity, two-bedroom four-storey block of 16 flats, four squad shed with state-of-the-art facilities, new parade square, asphalted roads of the academy and a 3.5kilometre perimeter wall around the entire Whistler barracks.
In addition to the administration block, C-in-C also commissioned the Cadet Accommodation Block, Cadet Mess, the Academy Model Room and 4 Skill at Arms Squad Sheds.


Speaking at the ceremony, the Chief of the Defence Staff, Vice Admiral Seth Amoama pledged the commitment of the Military High Command to maintain a favourable national security situation to serve as the foundation for accelerated national development.

He noted that with the anticipated resources, the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) would relentlessly leverage its accomplishments to ensure the preservation of peace and security within the borders of the country and also contribute significantly to global peace and security.
Dignitaries present at the ceremony included the Minister for Defence, Honourable (Hon) Dominic Ntiwul, Minister for Interior, Hon Ambrose Dery, Minister for National Security, Hon Kan Dapaah, and the Deputy Minister for Defence, Hon Kofi Amankwa-Manu. The rest are the Service Chiefs, Commandants of the various training schools and some Senior Officers from the General Headquarters.
