Teacher Trainees fight increased examination fees

Teacher Trainees fight increased teaching practicum and examination fees as per the released new information made public by the Teacher Trainees Association of Ghana (TTAG).

This was contained in a press release copied to Ghanaeducation.org. The association stated that final year students are Not Paying Ghc370.00 communicated early to students by the Institute of Education, UCC.

The leadership of TTAG further disclosed that the end-of-semester examination fee for all students (Levels 100 to 400) remains unchanged. It has directed that students should desist from paying a new examination fee of GHS470 charged by the institution which has increased by GHS70.00 from GHS400.00

“Examination fee for all year groups remains GH₵400.00. Trainees who have been charged GH₵470.00 should remain resolute as the leadership engage stakeholders on what could be made of the extra GH₵70.00,” The TTAG statement stated.

The new development which the students are not happy about came was communicated by the Institute of Education, UCC communicated. The communication said it had increased examination fees for the next academic year for the various levels of all its affiliated Colleges of Education (CoE).

It has also called on teacher trainees who have been charged GHS470 to remain resolute as the leadership of the Teacher Trainees Association of Ghana (TTAG) takes steps to get the challenge resolved.

The leadership of the students believes the management of the Institute of Education, UCC  would have to give very convincing needs to explanations for the increase in fees.

The directing of TTAG  and its decision to ensure the Teacher Trainees fight the increased teaching practicum and examination fees have been wlecome by the students. The students hope that in the coming days the institute will be able to provide very convincing explanations for the increase in examination fees among others on the matter.
