Three teacher unions are threatening industrial action over aptitude test results released by the Ghana Education Service.
Teacher Unions threaten industrial action – Statement
In a statement, the teacher unions, consisting of the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT), National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT), and the Coalition of Concerned Teachers – Ghana, said that it was unhappy with how the GES released the results.
They do not understand why candidates who were notified of their success in the exam were later informed that they failed.
They believe that the integrity of the aptitude test they sat for had been comprised, hence, the need for GES to review the results.
The teacher unions are therefore demanding a review of the aptitude test results by Friday to “forestall any disturbances in the industrial space”
It is hoped the GES takes proactive steps to prevent the Teacher Unions threaten industrial action from taking place.
Per the official statement released by the Ghana Education Service, at least 36% of teachers who sad for the promotion examination did not pass. Affected teachers are waiting for the GES to update them on their faith on 11th June 2021.
If the GES should indicate that the current feedback being received by teachers represents the true reflection of the examination, some teachers may call for their scripts through any legal means possible to ascertain whether they failed or not.
