7 Warning Signs of Alcoholism and 7 Dangers of Alcoholism

If you mess with alcohol or if alcohol decides to mess with you, watch out for the 7 Warning Signs of Alcoholism and find help or get ready for the 7 Dangers of Alcoholism.

Nobody was born a drunkard but getting hooked to alcohol but never letting the craving for it rule over you is one of the difficulties you face if you get imprisoned by its taste, smell, and seemingly good the moment it offers you. What Is An Alcoholic? An alcoholic is known as someone who drinks alcohol beyond his or her ability to control it and is unable to stop consuming alcohol voluntarily.

In Ghana, there is strangely a Ghana Drunkards Association. What is the Ghana Drunkards Association? The name of the association is misleading. It is an association of bar owners in Ghana. Thus, the group is made up of persons who supply, sell and distribute alcoholic beverages from their shops, stores, and the famous Blue Kiosks in Ghana. Research has revealed that 23 Ghanaian adults out of every 100 drink alcohol.

Dr Akwasi Osei, the Chief Executive Officer of the Mental Health Authority, in an overview of the Policy, said alcohol consumption accounted for about 3.3 million (5.9 Percent) deaths globally in 2012, most of them being males.

The negative health effects of alcohol include neuropsychiatric complications (mental health problems), liver and heart ailments, and diabetes, adding that the trend of non-communicable diseases, many of which had the commodity as the risk factor, was also on the increase.

Dr Agyeman-Manu, the Health Minister said alcohol abuse had serious socio-economic effects, especially on families and communities, and its consumption was even worse in the unborn child, children and adolescents, “yet the seriousness of this issue does not seem to register with the public, thus not much has been done to regulate the sector”.

Ghana has launched a National Alcohol Policy and while we should be worried that the youth are getting hooked to alcohol, there are just too many alcoholic drinks and advertisements on television.

There are fewer programs and efforts to help those who are hooked from destroying their lives with it, and at the same time help prevent non-drinkers and young people from alcohol intake. Rehabilitation centres have become choked with individuals who should live decent lives free from alcohol but, alcohol has hijacked their entire existence, making the living of normal life without alcohol a mirage for them.

The President of the Drunkards Association of Ghana, Moses Onyah,  announced the introduction of the Electronic Drink app for its members in February 2022. The question is, do we need an Electronic Alcoholic Drink to deal with Alcoholism?
