BECE: 10 ICT Acronyms You Must “Chew” Before Monday
It is very difficult for candidates to predict WAEC’s question. However, there are some fundamental predictions that candidates can make about questions. For example, in English, nobody needs to tell you that questions would be set from The Cockcrow. In that same manner, candidates must know that ICT cannot be ICT without acronyms. One of the subjects with the most acronyms at the basic level of education is ICT.
With this knowledge, candidates must use these few days ahead of them to “chew” some essential acronyms. Also, candidates must try their best to learn every acronym they see in a text. This article provides candidates with 10 acronyms that can come. Although it might not come in section B but it can appear in section A.

HTML- Hyper-Test Markup Language
It is the main markup language for displaying web pages and other information that can be displayed in a web browser
WAN- Wide Area Network
A computer network that spans a relatively large geographical area. Typically, a WAN consists of two or more local-area networks.

URL- Uniform Resource Locator

RAM – Random Access Memory
Random Access Memory or RAM most commonly refers to computer chips that temporarily store dynamic data to enhance computer performance.
ROM- Read-Only Memory
It is a chip on which data has already been pre-recorded. Once data has been written on a ROM chip, it cannot be removed and can only be read.
LCD- Liquid Crystal Display
It is a flat panel display, electronic visual display, or video display that uses the light-modulating properties of liquid crystals.
LED- Light Emitting Diodes
LED is a semiconductor device that emits visible light when an electric current passes through it.
JPEG- Joint Photographic Exports Group
It is a commonly used method of lossy compression for digital photography (image)
ISP- Internet Service Provider
This is a company that provides individuals and other companies access to the Internet and other related services such as Web Site Building and Virtual Hosting.
FTP- File Transfer Protocol
It refers to a network protocol responsible for transferring files from one computer to another over the Internet or a TCP computer network.
