Blame Me Not Bawumia, for Economic Challenges

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has accepted responsibility for Ghana present economic challenges, emphasising that executive responsibilities belong ultimately to the president.
In his address to Parliament on the State of the Nation on Tuesday, February 27, the president acknowledged his responsibility for challenges.
He stated that as the leader, he or she is responsible for the nation’s issues.
“According to the Constitution, the President of the Republic has executive power over the state. He or she is the executive. There is no uncertainty about who is responsible for what happens in government.

The President is ultimately responsible. The President has the executive power and should seek counsel from his officials rather than claiming to have all the answers, helping him to manage and solve Ghana economic challenges.
“The Cabinet and Ministers of State all act in an advising capacity. Of course, a member of the government may take a concept, whether developed by the President, an official, or a committee, and transform it into a big success, with accolades claimed or shared based on public perception. But, ultimately, the President is responsible and thus accepts credit or responsibility for whatever happens in his or her administration.”

This allegation coincides with previous remarks by Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, who highlighted that the Economic Management Team (EMT) under his supervision lacks decision-making authority and only functions as an advisory body to the government, affecting the whole country economic.
Dr. Bawumia emphasised that the EMT offers advice but does not have decision-making authority. As head of the EMT, he had previously faced criticism for Ghana’s economic woes.

President Akufo-Addo emphasised the government’s intentional strategic planning efforts to ensure Ghana’s safety and security.
He emphasised that Ghana has stayed unscathed by the extremism seen in adjacent nations due to rigorous planning.
Akufo-Addo emphasised the provision of resources to ensure the readiness of the military forces and other security services. This will put in order present state of Ghana economic challenges.
