Whiles the 2021 BECE registration draws to a close, some 188 Junor High Schools are yet to file data on candidates in their respective schools with the WAEC through the Ghana Education Service.

The information available to this portal indicates a greater number of the said schools are in the Ashanti region. The registration for the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) for 2021 ends on 11th June 2021.

GES instructions on 188 schools yet to register for 2021 BECE

Private schools have disclosed that the novel coronavirus contributed to the delays in the Ashanti region.

However, the Ghana Education Service (GES) has directed schools in the Ashanti region to ensure they register all students for the examination.

“You are requested to laise with the authorities of the schools involved to ensure that all eligible candidates are registered by the close of work on Friday, June 11, 2021,” the released copied to EducationWeb.com.gh stated.

It continued that “the Management of affected schools should note that the Ghana Education Service (GES) will not be in a position to facilitate any further registration exercise after the June 11, 2021 deadline.”

188 schools yet to register for 2021 BECE and GES disciplinary action

Heads of the public schools involved have been directed to offer written explanations as to why disciplinary action should not be taken against them for failing to register candidates for 2021 BECE (gross dereliction of duty).
