Final Year University Student Arrested For Alleged Murder Of Female Colleague

Olubodun Sanni, a 21-year-old student at Adekunle Ajasin University in Akungba Akoko, Ondo State, was taken into custody by detectives from the Ondo police command in connection with the stabbing death of Ifeoluwa Adekunle, a 20-year-old female student at the institution, who was found in her dorm. Sanni, a senior in the school’s geology department who shared an off-campus dorm with the victim, stabbed her to death while she was playing with her iPhone XR.

The victim’s iPhone XR was used by the police to apprehend the culprit, who was apprehended after the case was reported. The police said the guy admitted to murdering the girl because he was smitten with her iPhone.The young child befriended the girl despite his lack of familiarity with the deceased and then killed her at day’s end. The police source revealed that the suspect admitted to the crime long before his parents did. He had approached the victim that fateful day to ask her to transfer some footage from her phone to his iPad.

The naive female student did everything he asked, but she wouldn’t let him into her room. Her phone’s battery was low, she informed the suspect. After that, the criminal made a mental note to return later with a power bank to recharge the victim’s phone. The perpetrator returned to the victim’s room at a late hour, gained access, and proceeded to seize her by the neck before stabbing her in the chest with a knife he had taken with him. The criminal proceeded to remove the victim’s SIM card from her phone, slash it, and replace it with his own SIM card.”According to the police, he used the phone during the day and stashed it in an unfinished building near the hostel.”

Olubodun Sanni,’ a 21-year-old senior at the same university and a dorm roommate of the victim, was identified by the police as the caller using technological means. In his confessional statement, the suspect detailed the events leading up to his arrest, according to Oladipo, who added that “the recovered phone led to further questioning of the suspect.” The details included the suspect’s entry into the deceased’s chamber, knife stabbing to the chest, and theft of her iPhone XR. After the inquiry, the police commissioner stated that the suspect would face charges in court.
