GES To Recruit University and Diploma Graduates

The Ghana Education Service (GES) Director General, Dr Eric Nkansah, has given a hint about the recruitment of University and Diploma Graduates in 2024.

This comes few weeks after the GES Recruitment Portal for 2022 Colleges of Education batch was opened.

Dr. Eric Nkansah revealed that GES plans to recruit graduates with either a Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Education. He said that GES only needs financial clearance from the Ministry of Finance  before they can go ahead with recruitment.

Dr. Nkansah responded to one Facebook user who asked him about the recruitment of University Graduates. He responded that GES is seeking financial approval from the Ministry of Education to start recruiting university degree and diploma graduates. Once approval is obtained, recruitment will begin immediately.

He reassured that the self-posting mechanism will also be available for university graduates, allowing them the same autonomy in choosing their postings

The newly introduced recruitment portal allows degree holders to choose their preferred region, district, and school for posting, a first for GES. Graduates can generate their appointment letters online and present them at their regional education directorates to complete the onboarding process.

Dr. Nkansah discussed these changes during a press briefing titled “Recruitment of First Batch of Degree Holders (2022) from Public Colleges of Education,” also streamed on his Facebook page. He explained the benefits of the self-posting module for the first batch of degree holders..

Dr. Nkansah emphasized GES’s commitment to a fair, timely, and efficient recruitment process. He praised the patience of graduates awaiting this opportunity and reiterated the importance of new teachers in shaping Ghana’s educational future.

What Graduates Should Do Next

Graduates should stay updated with official announcements and prepare for the upcoming recruitment process. The introduction of the self-posting module is expected to make the placement process more efficient and beneficial for both graduates and educational institutions.
