GES Director General To Sponsor Akosua Adjei Boateng’s Tertiary Education

In a generous act of support, the Director General of the Ghana Education Service (GES), Dr. Eric Nkansah, has promised to sponsor Akosua Adjei Boateng’s tertiary education.
Akosua Adjei Boateng, a former student of Juaso Senior High Technical School in Juaso-Ashanti, was recently honored for her outstanding academic achievements. She was recognized as the top student in the Technical program, achieving 8 As in the 2024 West African Secondary School Certificate Examination.
Despite her success, Akosua, who is an orphan, faced financial difficulties that prevented her from continuing her education at the tertiary level.
“It saddened me to learn that Akosua, despite her remarkable achievements, was unable to further her education due to financial constraints,” the Director General stated. “As a native of Juaso, I was proud to learn of her accomplishments and felt compelled to assist.”

At the WAEC Distinction Awards last Wednesday, the Director General publicly committed to sponsoring Akosua’s higher education. After making this announcement, he invited Akosua, her close family members, and the Head of Juaso Senior High Technical School to his office. The purpose of this meeting was to understand Akosua’s career goals and plan the next steps for her education.
“I am convinced Akosua will excel in her tertiary education, and I am humbled to be a part of her journey,” he expressed.
This sponsorship underscores the importance of community and institutional support in developing talent and providing opportunities for deserving students. Akosua’s story is a powerful reminder of how educational support can positively impact an individual’s future and the broader community.

I will be sponsoring Akosua’s tertiary education so she can study the course of her choice.
As a native of Juaso, I was proud to learn that Akosua Adjei Boateng, a former student of Juaso Senior High Technical School, Juaso-Ashanti, emerged as the overall best student in the Technical programme.
However, hearing that Akosua, an orphan, after securing 8As, has been unable to continue her education at the tertiary level due to financial constraints saddened me.
During the WAEC Distinction Awards last Wednesday, I pledged to sponsor her tertiary education. Later that day, I hosted Akosua, her immediate family, and the Head of Juaso Senior High Technical School in my office to understand her career choices and next steps further.
I am convinced Akosua will excel in her tertiary education, and I am humbled to be a part of it.
