New Step-by-Step Guide for Correcting Errors on Ghana Card

The National Identification Authority (NIA) how outlined its new Step-by-Step Guide for correcting errors on your Ghana Card. Irrespective of whether the error was caused by the NIA staff or you, you will pay GHS30.00 to get it rectified. Those who also want to update their details on the card can also do so at a fee of GHS30.00.

According to the NIA, effective 8th August, it will charge GHS30.00 for all Ghana Card Personal Information updating services. Per the latest NIA directive, any update, which changes the information printed on the face of the Ghana Card already issued to an applicant will be done for a fee. 

What Data Can you update on your Ghana Card?

In the press release announcing the fee and the Personal Information updating services, the NIA indicated that updates and changes that relate to
a. Change or Correction of Applicant’s Name
b. Change or Correction of the order of Applicant’s Name
c. Correction or Addition of Applicant’s Previous Name or Maiden Name
d. Correction of Applicant’s Date of Birth
e. Change or Correction of the Nationality of Applicant
f. Correction of Applicant’s Gender and any other data captured during the registration can be corrected or updated.

Where can I pay for my Ghana Card Update Service?

1. Applicants will be required to complete and sign an electronic Card Replacement Request Form at the District Office;
2. Replacement of lost, stolen, damaged or defective cards will attract a fee of
Ghc30.00 which must be made with either the:
a.
CalBank Mobile Banking Platform with short code *771#; or
b. CalBank Online Mobile App; or
c. At a CalBank Branch Office

The Ghc30.00 fee for all fee-paying update services must be made with either the: CalBank Mobile Banking Platform with short code *771#; or CalBank Online Mobile App; or At a CalBank Branch Office. All applicants for the update service will be required to provide the reason for the update and must support the request with evidence.

The NIA will not accept cash payments for this service.
