WAEC will release WASSCE 2021 results 45 days after the last paper

When will the West African Senior School Certificate Examination result be released? WAEC is expected to release WASSCE 2021 results 45 days after the last paper.

This is a prediction and an explanation of the standard practice of the West African examination body operating in five Anglophonic countries of West Africa (Ghana, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Liberia, and The Gambia).

Nigeria has already announced it will release the results of candidates writing the WASSCE 45 days after the last paper of the ongoing exam.

In 2020, the results were delayed due to the novel coronavirus pandemic and its related restrictions which slowed down the post-examination process that WAEC goes through to get the WASSCE results ready, published online, and sent to various Senior High Schools.

The 2021 post-examination process is not expected to be affected by the coronavirus in any way.

Universities have commenced their admission process and are selling forms, the WASSCE results have to be released after 45 days to allow tertiary institutions in Ghana to commence their 2022 academic year and admission of WASSCE graduates in January for the 2022 academic year.

WEAC itself would want to revert to its standard practice and release WASSCE 2021 results 45 days after the last paper.

The last paper of this year’s secondary school leaving examination was written on 8th October 2021.

Counting 45 days from the next working day means candidates should expect the WASSCE 2021 results no later than Wednesday 24th November 2021.

However, should WAEC consider only working days in determining the 45 days, the results may be released not later than 10th December 2021. The worst-case scenario is that WAEC results may go beyond 45 days.

After the examination, we further suggest that graduates use their time more profitably while waiting for the results by period by engaging in skills training activities to acquire IT skills and others, secure safe jobs, and save towards their tertiary education.
