2020 BECE Results: Likely Release Day And Date (Opinion)

Since WAEC released the WASSCE 2020 results, candidates of the BECE have been seeking to know when the 2020 BECE results will be released. The Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) commenced on Monday, September 14, 2020, and ended on Friday, September 18, 2020, nationwide for all Junior High School (JHS) final year students. It has been 70 days (2 months, 9 days) since the examination ended.

When will 2020 BECE results be released?

Currently, nobody knows the date however, it is likely that the BECE results will not be released until the election is conducted. This projection is based on the fact that:

1. The Ministry of Education has disclosed that schools will reopen in January 2021. However, the GES is yet to release the reopening date for basic schools and second cycle schools. Often the BECE results are released after SHS students reopen for the first semester. The reopening date and the Academic calendar are expected to be released ahead of the results for 2020 BECE candidates. This is also not out.

2. The 2020 general election is a few days from today, top leadership at the MoE and the GES are deploying final campaign strategies to seek the mandate of the electorate, to be voted for as Members of Parliament for their constituencies. This means less top-level planning in the next few days, as far as the next academic year is concerned. It will be wrong timing to release the 2020 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) results any moment from now.

3. The WAEC, the non-profit making organization that conducted the BECE 2020 examination, is also yet to give any hint on when the result will be released.

The delay in the conduct of the exam because the coronavirus may also play a role in how soon WAEC will release the 2020 BECE result.

WAEC often releases results 45 days after the exam. Given that examiners released the WASSCE 2020 result on 13th November, and WAEC is conducting the NOV/DEC 2020 examination, chances are that the examining body may not release the result before the 2020 December elections to be held on 7th December.

When will 2020 BECE results be out?

Based on the above, Ghanaeducation.org projects that the BECE 2020 result will be released before 22nd December 2020. WAEC often releases examination results on Fridays, hence 11th and 18th December are the likely days for the release of 2020 BECE results.

If the results are released on 11th December 2020, that will be 85 days from the date the last paper was written thus 2 months, 24 days of waiting. However, it will add up to 92 days or 3 months of waiting for the BECE results if WAEC releases the result on December 18th, 2020.
