The Ministry of Education has given assurance that the 2020 school placement will be smooth and without challenges.
The spokesman for the Ministry of Education, Mr. Rodney Nkrumah-Boateng disclosed that all technical challenges that negatively impacted previous Computerised School Selections and Placement System (CSSPS) has been resolved.
He added that the ministry expects no SHS placement challenges this year.
Mr Rodney Nkrumah-Boateng Speaking on Citi FM’s Eyewitness News monitored by this portal said unlike 2019 that the school placement system was compromised during the process, there is no possibility of that happening again.
In 2019, hackers tempered with the system and haven breached the security of the system complicated the challenges the school placement system was already facing.
The mammoth number of parents and students who ended up at the Black Star Square frustrated was the end result.
2020 school placement changes
But, Mr. Rodney Nkrumah has said his outfit this year has addressed all the placement technical hitches confronting the CSSPS module and that there will be no cases of a system breach throughout the process this month
In the 2020 Free SHS school placement system, candidates can make changes to their self-placed schools without needing to visit the regional centres for help. This is because the MoE has deactivated the restrictions that made it impossible to make changes after using the self-placement option.
“What we have done this time around is that after you chose the schools, we have put in a verification system along the lines of what the Electoral Commission does where you can send a text to a certain number to confirm the school that you have chosen,” he told host of Eyewitness News.
“The Education Ministry with these two measures in place is expecting an SHS placement challenges free placement of the 2020 candidates who sat for the 30th edition of the BECE”, he stated.
