2021 WASSCE: Ghana to present over 446,000 candidates

The 2021 WASSCE will see Ghana present over 446,000 candidates for the examination which starts in August with practical papers.
In an interview granted the press by The Head of Public Relations for WAEC, Mrs. Agnes Teye Cudjoe she said the candidates on Monday, August 16, 2021, examination will start the practical aspect.
“The West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) will start next week for some final year Senior High School students but the examination will officially be conducted in September for all candidates,” she stated.
According to Madam Teye Cudjoe, the questions for the 2021 WASSCE for School candidates were set by staff of the West African Examinations Council adding that they were set based on the students syllabus approved by the Ministry of Education.
“We invite some teachers who are subject experts or what we call them item writers, some of them work with WAEC and others are in the classroom. We train and commission them for the process,” the WAEC official added.

She furthered that effective measures have been put in place for this year by the Council to ensure the 2021 WASSCE questions leakages are avoided and examination malpractice is not encountered.

“The WASSCE questions are normally leaked by some unscrupulous supervisors who take screenshots of the papers after taking it from the depot and distribute to some heads of schools for reasons best known to them,” she noted.
