2025 salary negotiation finally concluded at 10% increment starting January 2025

An unconfirmed report reaching Ghana Education News is that the 2025 salary negotiation has finally concluded and a 10% increment has been approved for public sector workers starting January 2025.
This year’s salary negotiations have been conducted with limited public disclosure for reasons known to the stakeholders. However, labour unions are urged to stand firm in securing a fair percentage, especially given last year’s unfulfilled 23% + 2% adjustment and the impact of inflation
The Fair Wages and Salaries Commission has met with representatives of the various teacher unions to negotiate salaries for the year. This meeting was necessary as the previous administration did not engage in negotiations before the December 2024 elections.
The various workers unions went into the 2025 salary negotiations with a starting bargaining rate of 60%, while the government suggested a 6% increament. This led to a stalemate during the negotiations on Wednesday, 19th February, 2025.
Meanwhile, misleading information and speculative salary figures are circulating on social media. The public is advised to disregard such claims, as official updates will be provided once negotiations are concluded.

The meeting has been rescheduled to February 19, 2025, as the national budget is set to be presented in March. A consensus is expected to be reached on the new date.
