5 Ways 2024 BECE Candidates are Preparing to Fail
Do you know that some 2024 BECE candidates are preparing to fail? Do you know how some 2024 BECE candidates are preparing to fail? This post will explain the hints and also provide you with suggestions on what needs to be done. You have a choice: do what it is right now and maintain it through the next six months, or continue on the wrong path towards failing the BECE. When the results are released, everything will begin to make sense.
5 ways 2024 BECE candidates are preparing to fail
It is sad that while teachers, parents, and schools are planning how to get students ready for the 2024 BECE, there are students who, by their actions and choices, are preparing to fail.
#1. Chasing after leaked mock examination questions is a sign you’re preparing to fail.
Some BECE candidates for 2024 are already poking for mock exam questions from such service providers, from whom their schools procure questions.
Such students think they are smart enough; however, they are only working out their future failures at the BECE in July 2024.
There is no long-term benefit for such students, even if they succeed in getting these mock questions. Such a move by the students will not help them be truly prepared for the BECE.
#2. Thinking you have enough time now is a sign you are getting ready for failure.
Again, some would-be candidates think the examination is six months away and that they can start being serious with their studies later.
However, from experience, students who start preparing very early tend to do well.
They little by little cover topics and prepare to undress stress. This way, they do not have to study, so they must cover a lot of topics as the exam gets closer.
Students who are already in preparation mode are encouraged to continue.
Those who are yet to start are encouraged to sit up.
Parents and teachers should start conditioning the minds of their final-year students to start revising their form one and two notes now because July 2024 is just around the corner.
The advice now is this: Start studying early and consistently. Don’t wait until the last minute to cram for exams. Make a study schedule and stick to it.
#3. If you do not have a personal learning timetable, you are not getting ready for a good result.
Students who currently do not have their personal timetables for studying after school are indirectly getting ready to fail the BECE. If you do not have a timetable, this is the time to get out.
Give more allocation to subjects that give you a tough time, and gradually revise.
Get help from your colleagues as well. Serious JHS3 students should by now belong to a serious study group of no more than five members.
Such a study group must have only seriousness in it.
The members are encouraged to learn and reteach their colleagues in the group. This re-teaching of what is learned will help the students retain more of what they learn.

#4. Students who are focused on understanding, not just memorizing, are getting ready to pass their BECE.
It is too early for any serious BECE candidate to start root learning, which is known in Ghana as “Chew, Poor, Pass, and Forget.”
This method will only be useful for a few days, and if you use it to prepare for your mocks, the toy may do well.
Since, at the tail end of the method, you are expected to forget, you may not be able to recollect the facts later and may have to go back to memorise them all over again.
Rote memorization may help you pass a test, but it won’t help you retain information in the long run. Try to understand the concepts you’re learning and how they apply to the real world.
#5. Students who are already attempting to solve past questions are on their way to achieving good results.
While there is no guarantee that you will receive the same questions during the BECE, doing so will give you a chance to test your comprehension of how to respond to questions and the types of responses that the examiner is looking for.
We think you’re on to a winning formula when you use prior questions to study for any test, including the BECE:
You may think of previous questions as a treasure map; they show you the most common areas examined and question types.
Attempting and solving past questions helps to reduce test anxiety and increase confidence; practicing old questions mimics the actual exam experience.
Preparing for an exam by answering practice questions is like getting into a game. You learn to solve problems more effectively, apply what you’ve learned in theory to real-world situations, and pinpoint where your comprehension is lacking.
Parents and schools must do their part to get these materials available for learning and preparing for the BECE as early as now. Get your students past questions and answers right after reading this.
Just in case you are practicing any of the negatives explained in this How some 2024 BECE candidates are preparing to fail” post, it is time to change your focus and direction.
