6 years secondary education

Ghana Education News | Ghana needs 6 years of secondary school to fully groom students. This is the latest statement by the Minister for Education.

The Education Minister, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutuwm has indicated that the country needs to have six years of secondary school. In his view, this was the sure way for the country to develop critical thinkers who can help solve problems.

Dr. Adutuwm made this know when he inaugurated a 14-member ministerial advisory board to advise the Ministry on policy formation and proffer ideas to operationalize the country’s transformation agenda in the educational system.

The minister furthered that, the government has shown the will and leadership to transform the education system of the country through the building of  Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) schools.

Secondary school education and the number of years candidates spend at that level before entering the university or colleges in Ghana have been determined by politicians based on their stand and what they deem good for the country.

This, he added, is why the country needs six years of secondary school to adequately prepare kids for postsecondary study.
