2025 Term 2 Academic Calendar for Basic Schools: Key Weeks, Dates and Holidays

The 2025 Term 2 Academic Calendar for Basic Schools Covering Key Weeks, Dates and Holidays in the term are out. This calender will serve as a guide for all teachers and schools and help them plan their academic and extra curricular activities for the term.

Based on the Ghana Education Service (GES) academic calendar for the 2024/2025 academic year, the second term for basic schools begins on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, and concludes on Thursday, April 17, 2025.

The term spans 14 weeks, with the 12th week designated for revision, the 13th week for examinations, and the 14th week for vacation.

Independence Day (Thu, Mar 6) and Friday 7th March, 2025 will be holidays for schools in Ghana. On the 7th of March, all military installations will be opened to school children and their teachers for visits.

  • Independence Day: Thursday, March 6, 2025, is a public holiday commemorating Ghana’s independence. While 7th March will be a special holiday or rest day for teachers and learners after the 6th March parade.
  • Good Friday and Easter Monday: Falling on April 11 and April 14, 2025, respectively, these are public holidays observed nationwide.
  • Vacation Period: Although the term officially ends on Thursday, April 17, 2025, students may begin their vacation after completing examinations in the 13th week.
