GES, what is the fate of teachers with “Pending for Consideration” status

Out of nowhere, for the first time in the Ghana Education Service, graduate teachers who had applied for recruitment and posting via the GES portal were met with a “Pending for Consideration” status. This occurred at a time when they were anticipating recruitment to contribute to education in the country and earn income to meet their needs.
Unfortunately, the previous government did little to resolve this issue before leaving office. The fate of teachers with the “Pending for Consideration” status is even more precarious now, especially given that teachers recruited towards the end of the year, close to or immediately after the elections, have had their appointments revoked by the new government.
However, for those whose appointments were revoked by the new NDC-led government, there is some positive news: they will be reinstated. The status of those with the “Pending for Consideration” remains uncertain.
What is the fate of graduate teachers still on “pending for consideration” from the last recruitment? Since those whose appointments were revoked will be reinstated through the proposed validation, it would be equitable for those on “pending for consideration” to also be recruited, thereby addressing the shortage of teachers in public schools.
Teachers are looking to the new government for favourable news that will alleviate their current challenges as professionals.

Our schools need educators whose recruitments have been on “Pending for Consideration” for several months. The Ghana Education Service and the Ministry of Education, under the NDC-led government, must adopt a different approach. Our teachers, both those whose appointments were revoked and those in the “Pending for Consideration” category, deserve fair resolution of their issues, with the nation’s educational interests guiding the final decisions.
Any other outcome would be detrimental, and our teachers and learners would suffer the consequences of poor decisions. Above all, the affected teachers seek recruitment to contribute to the education sector.
