GES Denies ‘Secret’ Teacher Recruitment, Reports of GHS25,000 Bribes False
GES Dismisses Claims of ‘Secret’ Teacher Recruitment, Warns Public Against Paying for Appointments.
The Ghana Education Service (GES) has firmly denied claims of an alleged “secret recruitment” exercise and the sale of teaching appointments following the circulation of a viral video on social media and some traditional media platforms.
In a statement issued on December 12, 2025, the GES said management’s attention had been drawn to allegations, particularly aired on Adom FM, suggesting that individuals were being recruited secretly into the Service and that some applicants were paying amounts of up to GHS 25,000 to secure teaching appointments.
GES described the claims as false and misleading, stressing that no such secret recruitment exercise exists within the Service.
According to the statement signed by the Head of Public Relations, Daniel Fenyi, the current activities being observed are linked to the resumption of onboarding processes following the extension of financial clearance in October 2025. The clearance was granted to enable the onboarding of 2024 applicants whose previous clearance had expired.
GES explained that, in the course of the process, some applicants who had earlier been issued fake appointment letters were given new, legitimate appointment letters since they could not be onboarded with the forged documents. The Service emphasized that these replacement letters were issued free of charge, and no payment was required at any stage.
The Service has therefore cautioned the public to disregard claims that money is being collected for recruitment or posting into GES. Management further urged anyone who has been approached to pay money, or who has evidence of such illegal demands, to report the individuals involved to the appropriate security agencies for investigation.

GES reaffirmed that the established procedures for recruiting new staff into the service remain unchanged. The statement stressed that whenever financial clearance is obtained for mass recruitment, an official public announcement is made to invite qualified applicants to apply.
The Service reiterated that GES recruitment is open, transparent, and free, and warned applicants to be vigilant against fraudsters seeking to exploit job seekers.
