The Management of the Ghana Education Service (GES) has officially informed the general public, particularly teachers currently on the Deputy Director rank, that the preparatory arrangements for promotions to the higher ranks of Director II and Director I are now complete.
This development follows the submission of a final report by a specialized committee. This committee included representatives from the GES, the Public Services Commission, the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission, and PricewaterhouseCoopers.
Key Updates for Deputy Directors
Qualified staff aiming for the Director ranks should take note of the following critical points regarding the upcoming promotion cycle:
Extensive Consultations: The process involved significant reviews and inputs from various stakeholders, including the Teacher Unions.
Timeline for Applications: Management anticipates that the first call for applications and the subsequent aptitude test for these ranks will be announced by the end of the first quarter of 2026.
A Shift in Policy: Promotions to these ranks are no longer strictly contingent on limited office vacancies, as was previously required. This change reflects a commitment made by His Excellency John Dramani Mahama to the teaching workforce.
