Monday 11th July a Public Holiday The E-levy and the unhealthy state of Ghana's economy Ghana Declares 2 Days as Public Holidays in January 2022

The Government of Ghana has declared 11th July 2022 a public holiday via a press release. The day is set aside to mark the 2022 “Eid-ul-Adha” which is a Statutory Holiday in Ghana.

According to the press release, “The Genera public is hereby informed that Saturday. 9th July 2022 marks “Eid-ul-Adha” which is a Statutory Public Holiday.”

“However, 9th July, 2022 falls on Saturday, and therefore, His Excellency, the President of the Republic of Ghana has by an Executive Instrument (EI), and in accordance with section 2 of the Public Holidays and Commemorative Days Act, 2001 (601) declared Monday, 11th July 2022 as a Public Holiday and should be observed as such throughout the country. ”

Eid ul-Adha is a religious holiday celebrated to mark the time when Ibrahim had a dream that he believed was a message from Allah asking him to sacrifice his son Isma’il as an act of obedience to God. The devil tempted Ibrahim by saying he should disobey Allah and spare his son.
