The steps shared here are those provided by the DVLA. To replace a lost driver’s license, an applicant must present a police extract and an ID card to the DVLA.

• Document search in the DVLA’s database to find out if the license you seek to replace actually exists.

• Payment of the prescribed fees, which is the cost of replacement.

• Authentication of Driver’s Licence by the DVLA authorities

• Any other test DVLA may prescribe

• Issuance of a cover note to confirm that your process to get your license replaced is successful.

• Collection of the license at a later date, which will be made known to the driver when the cover note is issued. Usually, it takes 3 months for the driver’s license to be ready for collection.
