SHS1 Common Core Programme Starts With 2024 BECE Graduates

When the 2024 BECE graduates report to school this month, they will be the first batch of SHS students to start the new SHS Common Core Programme (CCP) at the Senior High School level.

The Ghana Education Service (GES) rolled out the new curriculum in 2019 for students who are currently preparing for their 2024 BECE scheduled for July 8 to 12th.

The SHS Common Core Programme for SHS 1 comprises 9 subjects that will be studied for one academic year.

In the second year, that’s SHS 2, the students will then pursue their respective programmes such as Business, General Arts, Visual Arts, and Science. This means that, when the students report to school as year one students, they will not be introduced to their elective subjects for the various programmes they are admitted to read at the SHS.
