Organized labor and the government agreed increase in Single Spine Base Pay

For the fiscal year 2023, organized labor and the government have agreed to a 30% increase in the Single Spine Base Pay.

The Controller and Accountant General is hereby directed to implement this beginning with the January 2023 payroll.

A meeting between the two parties just two days ago ended inconclusively for the seventh time.

Organized labor demanded a 60% increase in base pay on the single spine salary structure, but the government claimed that the demand was unrealistic.

According to Organized Labor, the percentage demanded is largely due to the harsh economic conditions.

In an interview with Citi News (January 10) on the sidelines of a media briefing, the Deputy Minister for Employment and Labour Relations, Bright Wereko-Brobby, explained that “since the beginning of the year, this has been our first meeting, and so we recapped what we have been doing.

“We have both decided to come tomorrow Wednesday, January 11, 2023, to conclude our negotiations. We are working very quickly. We will share any information that comes up tomorrow, God willing.”
