SHS Placement: WhatsApp Number For Self Placement Is Fake – GES Tells Parents
Ghana Education Service has once again served a notice to the general public about some activities by unscrupulous persons pretending to be GES agents and trying to scam students and parents.
According to GES, it does not use WhatsApp to help students who have issues with the school placement. According to GES, the WhatsApp number 0598220389 is fake and is has no relation with GES or WAEC.
Following the release of the 2023 SHS Placement for 2022 BECE graduates, several students seem to have issues with their placement. 538,399 candidates are expected to be placed in various senior high schools and TVET institutions in the country.
Hundreds of parents and children troop at the GNAT Hall in Accra each day due to some school placement issues. Most of these issues have to deal with persons who would have to do self placement.
Several students have not been able to do self placement. This is because, there are no options of schools for students to select from in the portal. This has made some 165,601 candidates worried.
Ghana Education Service has given out the location of some help centers in each region where students and parents can go to for assistance. It is also expected that the self placement portal will be fully functional in no time.

According to the academic calendar of the Ghana Education Service, all 2022 BECE graduates who have been placed in various senior high schools are expected to be in the school they have been placed on Monday, 20th February, 2023 to start the registration.
Students must send the following documents to the SHS they have been placed for admission process to commence;
- Placement form
- Enrollment form – This form must be filled completely. Details of the student must be filled correctly. Portion which entails the head teacher of the previous school(JHS) or a pastor to fill must also be filled before sending it to the SHS for admission. However, the name of the SHS/TVET head teacher must be left blank.
- BECE results/certificate
- Passport size picture. You can choose to attach this to the placement form.
- Students must also know the digital address of their houses, hometown, place of birth, information about guardians or parents and students’ medical conditions.
If a student fails to submit any of the above listed documents on the day of admission, the school will fail to admit such student. Also registration process is completely free.
Already, the Ministry of Education and the Ghana Education Service have served notice to the public avoid engaging persons who promise to change the schools of BECE graduates. School placement into Senior High Schools is set to be released in February. BECE graduates are therefore encouraged to wait for their placement and attend the SHS they are being placed.
The school placement is being released based on the aggregate each student attained in their BECE results.
