The 21st-century teacher should be up to speed with modern teaching trends; reading every book in the list I call “Five Books Every Teacher Must Read” will help you as a teacher. 

Much of what happens in the classroom is highly variable and much to define. Books are essential to helping teachers achieve instructional objectives.

The Five Books Every Teacher Must Read

Five of such books every teacher must endeavor to read are as follows;

1. Seven Myths About Education by Daisy Christodoulou. This book is built on the ideology that, if you teach pupils using the knowledge they bring to the classroom, then you will produce educational inequalities.

2. Why Knowledge Matters by ED Hirch. This book explains that it is important to give a more serious look at the curriculum and greater emphasis placed on what we teach instead of how we teach it.

3. Make It Stick by Peter Henry Roedige and Mark McDaniel. According to them, learning is more deeper and durable when it is effortful. Learning that is easy is like writing in the sand. Here today and gone tomorrow.

4. The Hidden Lives of Learners by Graham Nuthall. According to Nutshall, learning requires motivation, but motivation does not necessarily lead to learning.

5. Why Don’t Students Like School by Daniel Willingham. In this eminently readable book, Willingham states that learners can only think about the things they know as memory is the residue of thoughts.
