2026 World Cup Qualifiers For Africa: The 9 Groups and Countries

FIFA World Cup 2026 Preliminary Draw held by CAF in Nigeria has set the tone for battles between 54 African countries groups in 9 groups of 6 countries. The number of teams in each group for the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers For Africa has increased to 6 in each group.

Below are the groups and the countries that were drawn into each group for the 2026 Preliminary group matches. 

African football legends Emmanuel Eboue, Asamoah Gyan, Austin ‘Jay Jay’ Okocha. Emmanuel Adebayor, Wael Gomaa and Alexandre Song assisted in the draw.

Winners of each Group will automatically qualify for the FIFA World Cup™ 2026.

The four best runners-up (from the Groups) will play in a CAF Play-Off tournament. The winner of the CAF Play-Off Tournament will play in the FIFA Play-off Tournament to potentially be the 10th African nation.
