1 Tambo International Airport, Johannesburg, South Africa

Tambo International Airport is the main gateway into and out of South Africa. The airport, which can serve 16 million passengers a year, is also the largest airport in the country. The airport is located at an altitude of 1,700 meters and has two of the longest runways in the world. This design helps reduce drag during takeoff and landing.

The airport was named Johannesburg International Airport in 2006 after government policy in 1994 prohibited airports from being named after politicians. However, President Tambo’s statue symbolizes his return from exile after 30 years.

There was also a famous hijacking incident in 1970 when a plane flying from Amsterdam to New York had to land there.

Cape Town International Airport is second only to Johannesburg’s Oliver Reginald Tambo International Airport and is a symbol of the city’s modern appeal. The airport won the “Africa’s Best Airport”, “Africa’s Best Airport” and “Africa’s Best Airport” awards in 2022. It is located in Egypt and the fifth most busiest airport in Africa. It is the second busiest airport in Egypt after Cairo International Airport and an important destination for leisure flights mainly from Europe.
