1. Tsunami in the Indian Ocean (2004)

On December 26, 2004, a massive undersea earthquake with a magnitude of 9.1-9.3 off the coast of Sumatra, Indonesia, triggered a tsunami. It affected multiple countries around the Indian Ocean, resulting in over 230,000 deaths and widespread destruction.

 

2. Haiti Earthquake (2010)

A devastating earthquake with a magnitude of 7.0 struck near Port-au-Prince, Haiti, on January 12, 2010. It caused extensive damage to buildings and infrastructure and resulted in an estimated 230,000 deaths.

3. Chernobyl Nuclear Disaster (1986).

On April 26, 1986, an explosion at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant in Ukraine released a large amount of radioactive materials into the environment. It’s considered one of the worst nuclear disasters in history, leading to long-term health and environmental consequences.

4. Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Disaster (2011)

In March 2011, a massive earthquake and tsunami damaged the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant in Japan, leading to a nuclear crisis. It resulted in the release of radioactive materials and widespread evacuations.

5. 9/11 Terrorist Attacks (2001)

On September 11, 2001, terrorists hijacked commercial airplanes and carried out suicide attacks on the World Trade Center in New York City and the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. Nearly 3,000 people died, and it led to significant changes in U.S. security and foreign policy.

10. Great East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami (2011)

On March 11, 2011, a massive undersea earthquake and tsunami struck northeastern Japan. The earthquake and tsunami caused significant damage and resulted in the Fukushima nuclear crisis. Over 15,000 people lost their lives in the disaster.
