The battle is no longer the Lord’s but cash – Kennedy Agyapong ’s campaign team
Kennedy Agyapong’s Camp Believes Their Vision Outshines Cash in NPP Leadership Race.
The battle for leadership within the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has taken an interesting twist, with allegations of a significant cash infusion into campaign efforts. Lawyer Kwaku Amoh Darteh, the spokesperson for Kennedy Agyapong, has suggested that the party’s slogan, “The battle is the Lord’s,” has shifted to a focus on financial resources.
In an interview on the Angel Morning Show, Darteh remarked that the fight for control within the NPP is becoming increasingly influenced by cash resources. He claimed that this shift is driven by the substantial amounts of money being pumped into campaign strategies to sway party delegates in favor of particular candidates.
Darteh went on to accuse the campaign team of Vice President Bawumia of engaging in what he termed a “campaign of cash.” According to him, this desperate attempt to avoid defeat in the upcoming November 4th, 2023, polls has transformed the leadership struggle into a financial battleground.
However, despite the financial competition, Darteh expressed his unwavering optimism that the tide would not change. He firmly believed that delegates have already chosen Kennedy Agyapong as the ideal candidate to lead the NPP into the 2024 elections.
“The response from our campaigns so far shows that Kennedy Agyapong has been accepted as the best candidate to lead the NPP, so no amount of money, payments, and intimidation can change the hearts of the delegates,” Darteh emphasized.
He provided additional reasons for his claims, highlighting Kennedy Agyapong’s vision and determination. Darteh explained that a vote for Kennedy Agyapong would create an enabling environment for the youth and for Ghana as a whole. Kennedy’s commitment to spreading goodwill and his extensive visits to all 275 constituencies across the country demonstrate his suitability for the role. Moreover, Darteh asserted that given the opportunity, Kennedy would significantly boost employment levels in the country.
In summary, the battle for leadership within the NPP appears to have transitioned from a spiritual battle to a financial contest, as allegations of significant cash campaigns continue to dominate the party’s internal politics. Despite this, Kennedy Agyapong’s campaign team remains confident in their candidate’s ability to lead the party to success in the upcoming elections.
