The Paramount Chief of Dagbon Kingdom Ya- Na Abukari II has urged the Vice President Dr. Muhamadu Bawumia to refer former President John Dramani Mahama as his senior brother despite them being competitors.
For the first time two northerners will be competing for the presidential race in the 2024 General Election.
Dr.Bawunia payed a homage to the paramount chief Dagbon at Na Gbewa palace in Yendi as part of his Journey of thanking Ghananains especially NPP delegate who trusted his message and showed him love during the New Patriotic Party primaries which took place on November 4.
Ya Na Abukari II took advantage of the Vice President’s visitation to offer him a piece of advice while campaigning ahead of the 2024 general elections.
Speaking, Ya Na told Dr. Bawumia to see John Dramani Mahama as his brother not enemy despite them representing the rival Political parties in Ghana that is NDC and NPP.
“John Mahama is your big brother and not your enemy. See him as an elder brother as you go about your campaign.”
“We just have to be grateful to all Ghanaians for trusting that only a Northerner can lead Ghana after 2024. It is a big opportunity for us to demonstrate our maturity, competence, honesty and dedication to move Ghana forward,” Ya-Na to Bawumia.
In Response Towards what Ya Na Abukari II said, Dr. Bawumia promise to adhere to everything said by the chief and conduct a descent campaign without any intimidation.
“I wish to assure you that my team and I will conduct a clean campaign as you have indicated because myself and John Mahama are all your sons. What I will be doing is that I will bring to bear my ideas that I know will complement the development we are currently seeing.” Bawumia
Dr. Muhamudu Bawumia has embarked on thank you tour in the northern regions after winning the NPP presidential race from 20 November where he organized a rally at Northern region capital, Tamale.
He has been in Yendi,Saboba and Bimbila.
He will be visiting the Yagbonwura Bi-Kunte of Gonja kingdom the days ahead.
