Vetting is one of the procedures which have been adopted by many countries to assess the strength and capabilities of an individual who is ready to take-up a mantle to work for an association or the country at large. The appointment committee took up a mandate to vet Honorable Lariba Zuweira Abudu and her deputy.

The Chairman of the Appointments Committee, Hon. Joseph Osei Owusu and Members of the Committee vet the Minister-designate to the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection, Hon. Lariba Zuweira Abudu and her Deputy Hon. Francisca Oteng Mensah respectively.

Hon. Lariba Zuweira Abudu who is currently the Deputy Minister for the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection was questioned on how she would use her influence to push for the speedy passage of the Affirmative Action Bill, the increment of the School Feeding fee per child, support for women and children on the street and the poor treatment to women perceived to be witches.

The Deputy Minister-designate Hon. Francisca Oteng Mensah, on her part, used the opportunity to clarify a conflict of interest petition by a citizen against her as the Board Chair of the National Youth Authority.
