Mr Yaw Opoku Mensah, the deputy Public Relations Officer (PRO) for the Ministry of Education (MoE) has officially confirmed Friday, March 25, 2022, as the 2021 computer Senior High School placement release date.
Speaking to the media on Thursday at an ICT Week celebration held in Kumasi, the spokesman said adequate measures to ensure a smooth school placement has been put in place by his outfit and the Ghana Education Service.
According to him, the Ministry and the Ghana Education Service (GES) as part of the measures have reserved enough boarding schools for those who desire to be boarders even in the self-placement category for candidates to choose
“Students and parents are to expect the school placement on March 25, 2022. There are enough boarding schools for those who desire to be boarders even in the self-placement category for candidates to choose,” he told journalists.
Asked if the April 4, 2022 date for the first-year students to report to school will be rescheduled amid the delay in the placement release, Yaw said many changes in regard to the school placement will be communicated in due course.
Reacting to media reports that the central government is considering reviewing the popular Free Senior High School (Free SHS) flagship programme, Opoku Mensah said no such decision has been taken by President Akufo-Addo.
In his presentation at the ICT Week celebration, the Communications Director of the Education Ministry said “the government has never said anywhere of a possible review of the Free SHS program due to economic constraints.
Opoku Mensah told students at the event “if you look at the posture of government in relation to free education, the government has rather expanded the program by introducing Free TVET with same nature as the Grammar Schools.
