Diploma Graduates Cannot Write Teacher Licensure Exams Again – NTC

The National Teaching Council has revealed that the upcoming teacher licensure exams will exempt graduates with diploma certificates.

In a letter to various tertiary institutions in Ghana sighted by ghanaeducation.org, Dr. Addai Poku made it clear that this year’s GTLE for 2023 graduates will be subject and level based. In other words, candidates will write the examination in their subject area of specialisation (major subject) in addition to General Paper and General Pedagogy.

“No Diploma Graduate is permitted to register and sit for the examination” the statement said.

Again, the examination shall be exclusively for Bachelor of Education Degree holders and holders of Post Graduate Diploma in Education.

Dr Addai Poku, in his recent interview on GTV also revealed the date for the next examination. He stated that the new graduates are likely to write in September this year.

“This year, we didn’t allow any new crop and any new graduate to join the resitters. All the new graduates are going to write theirs maybe by September. Normally when the new ones join with fresh ideas, they tend to do very well” he said..

So far in 2023, no licensure exams have been conducted for fresh candidates. The only exams conducted this year was for resitters, whose results are now out with several of them failing.
