“Collapsed school building kills dozens” – The school of Pig Cage

“Collapsed school building kills dozens – The school of Pig Cage” is what we fear the headlines will be if the GES and government do not take proactive steps now to avert a looming danger.

Teachers and pupils of inhabitants of Ajumako Kokoben D/A Basic School in Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam of Central Region and the entire community do not want to wake up to the sympathy of government, NGOs, and other stakeholders should the school building collapsed on its users.

Please help the community, teachers, and the pupils with a more befitting school structure. Support from NGOs and the government is badly needed to fix the school with walls dangerously handing all over the school premises.

The school building is in a serious mess, a death trap waiting to cause harm. The pictures attached to the post speak volumes. You can see the whole structure is cracked. One strong rainstorm and a push could be disastrous.

Concerned community members, teachers, parents, and all who seek the welfare of the pupils and teachers have consulted so many hands but no help to save these learners’ lives as well as that of teachers.

End of Term Exams

A few years back such a school building killed many learners at Breman Jamra in Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa which has put fears in teaching and learning activities.

Teachers go to school gripped with fear of the worse happening. A huge collapse and death of teachers and innocent pupils due to the negligence of government and stakeholders.

The GES and government are all watching for the avoidable deaths and accidents to happen before they take corrective actions to reconstruct the school or renovate it and make it safe for use and fit for purpose.

We are in the rainy season and can we wait to see the headlines bulletin “Collapsed school building kills dozens”? No!

The most fortunate is that the Assembly member is currently an NSS teacher in the school, but all his efforts to call for helping hands have yielded no positive result.

The information available to Edulearnweb indicates teachers in the school are planning to seek reposting (transfer) because they fear for their lives. They are not ready to risk it any longer as their lives and that of learners are put on the dangerous path every passing day.

If the government of Ghana, the GES, and the good people of Ghana do not want to read the headline-Collapsed school building kills dozens, then the time to act is now.
