GES 90+ Teaching & Non-teaching Job Vacancies in 36 SHSs Open? Facts Checked

The Ghana Education News Portal received information that the Ghana Education Service (GES) has over 90 teaching and non-teaching job vacancies in 36 Senior High Schools (SHSs) open across the country. A few hours after the publication, we received information from diverse sources with different details that suggested the announced vacancies had emanated from a serious scam operating syndicate that has been on the GES radar for some time.
Our sources added that the GES had received so many complaints, with some individuals also being scammed. Some educators who have been scammed disclosed that the email used appears so real and seems to emanate from the GES; however, some colleagues have been scammed.
Below are the details from our investigations that suggest the announced job vacancies are from a scammer.
Message one: “This seems real, but I joined a group where someone complained of being scammed using the real GES email.”
He had a similar message on WhatsApp last year about recruiting. He had a chat with them via email, and it seems they demanded cash. He paid 6000 cedis or so. They gave him a fake letter.
“Guys, I was scammed out of GHC 6,000.00 last year using this method. They will send you an email with a fake appointment letter containing a QR code. When you scan the QR code, everything looks genuine, and it will direct you to the GES website. The scammer will give you just a day to make a payment, threatening to revoke your appointment letter if you don’t. If you do not make the payment on the specified date and scan the letter again, clicking on the GES website link will show that your letter has been revoked. That’s when you will call the scammer to request the removal of the revocation, and they will demand money from you—that’s when the scam happens.”
Another source the Ghana Education Portal contacted disclosed that a top official at the GES has been contacted on the issue following our publication of the opened vacancies. The GES confirmed the announcement is fake, and the only thing the GES can do is to publish a fake vacancy disclaimer on the matter. Teachers seeking to be employed have been cautioned to be extra careful not to fall for such scams. The Ghana Education Service has already announced it will recruit some 60,000 staff, made up of 50,000 teaching and 10,000 non-teaching staff this year. The vacancies will be published on its official social media handles, among others.
Based on the above, teachers should disregard the “GES 90+ Teaching & Non-teaching Job Vacancies in 36 SHSs Open” announcement.
A major recruitment drive is currently underway, offering 95 teaching and non-teaching job vacancies across 36 of Ghana’s most prestigious senior high schools managed by the Ghana Education Service (GES). This is a significant opportunity for passionate educators and skilled administrative professionals to advance their careers within the Ghanaian education sector and contribute to national development.
