GES Warns Heads and Directors: Stop Using Threats and Authority to Intimidate Staff

- GES Directs Heads and Directors to Stop Using Threats and Authority to Intimidate Staff
The Ghana Education Service (GES), in a letter dated 25th July 2025, has directed all Regional Directors and Heads of Institutions to desist from using threats and authority to intimidate staff members of the service.
According to GES Management, it had received reports indicating that “some Heads of Institutions and Directors of Education are using the seat of the Regional Director to issue out threats to intimidate or coerce staff members in executing their duties.”
The letter emphasized that such actions are not only unprofessional but also strictly prohibited and should cease immediately.
“It has come to the notice of the Management of the Regional Education Office that some Heads of Institutions and Directors of Education are using the seat of the Regional Director to issue out threats to intimidate or coerce staff members in executing their duties,” the letter stated.
The GES further urged educational leaders to embrace the principles of a respectful and professional work environment, as the current acts of intimidation undermine best practices and workplace harmony.
Heads and Directors found engaging in these prohibited acts are strongly advised to desist, as such behavior does not foster a conducive working environment.
“Please note that such actions are strictly prohibited and undermine the principles of a respectful and professional work environment. Any Head of Institution or Municipal/District Director who is fond of engaging in that act must desist from it, as it does not foster a good working environment,” the service added.
