Teacher trainees are suffering as they can not get 6.5ghs daily funding from the government. A letter from the Conference of Principals of Colleges of Education (PRINCOF) has indicated that the government is starving teacher trainees hence they are seeking permission to allow students to fend for themselves. The letter was addressed to the Ministry of Finance to seek approval for students in the various public Colleges of Education in the country to fend for themselves.
According to PRINCOF, students are expected to fend for themselves effective Monday, November 7, 2022, if approval is granted.
As a result of recent market changes, college deans of education have been working extremely hard to support new instructors. All food prices have skyrocketed, and because colleges owe these food providers money, these suppliers have refused to give any food to colleges.
Due to the refusal of a request for an increase in the feeding grant provided to principals, it has become harder for principals to continue serving three meals a day to pupils at Six Cedis, Fifty Pesewas (C6.50).
The administration of PRINCOF has disclosed that the various colleges have recently struggled to feed trainee instructors due to rising commodity prices brought on by current market trends. Because colleges are owing to these food providers, food suppliers have refused to deliver any food products to colleges due to the skyrocketing prices of all food items and the schools’ apparent lack of creditworthiness.
