HIV/AIDS: Over 73,000 People In Ashanti Region Infected

According to the statistics present, there are over 73,000 citizens in the Ashanti region that are living with the HIV/AIDS. HIV/AIDS is a s*xually transmitted disease.

This was revealed by Nathaniel Oduro, Executive Director of ProActif Global, who believes stakeholders must increase their advocacy on HIV/AIDS and stigma.

He observes that stigmatization encourages people living with the disease to hide and avoid seeking treatment.

Mr. Oduro, on the other hand, is urging residents of the region to be cautious of their sexual partners in order to avoid contracting the disease.

“Let’s take the Ashanti region, for instance, we have a little over seventy-three thousand persons living with HIV AIDS, I mean (73,245) per the 2020 data which was released in Ashanti Region by the AIDS Commission and if these people decide not to seek treatment again because of the stigma the viral load will go up”
