  1. We have the British brand of English and the American version also. Your teaching on “advice and advise” is the British type of English.
    American English uses only “advice” for nouns and verbs.
    Now students are taught the common Americanism in English because the American English is also accepted worldwide. So examiners are instructed to accept American spellings of words. On their part, students are taught to stick to only one type of English, either British or American. If a student
    mixes the two, then he or she is penalized. It is, however, advisable to stick to the British spellings and constructions because it is not likely that students will know all the usages in American English.
