Kennedy Agyapong Explains Why Afenyo Markin Was Not Given Ministerial Appointment

NPP Flagbearer hopeful, who doubles as the MP for Assin Central constituency, Honorable Kennedy Agyapong, has revealed why Afenyo Markin, the MP for Effutu, was not given ministerial appointment under Akufo Addo’s government.
In a recent live radio interview on Kastle FM in Cape Coast, Kennedy Agyapong shared that Afenyo-Markin’s involvement in an agriculture bank issue led to the president rejecting him for the position, which was then awarded to Mavis Hawa Koomson. According to Kennedy Agyapong, the president didn’t even wanted to see the face of Afenyo Markin due to his alleged involvement in some crises at Agriculture Bank.
“We advocated for Alex Markin to be a minister, but his issue with an agriculture bank led to the president declining his appointment. Consequently, the position went to Hawa Koomson,” Agyapong explained.

Kennedy Agyapong underlined his influence in supporting Koomson’s initiatives, asserting that her current role as the Minister for Fisheries was facilitated by his assistance. He claimed that without his support, Koomson wouldn’t have gained any political standing as she lacked the necessary attention.
“Considering she was primarily based in the central region, how could Koomson attain such a position? I engineered specific initiatives for her. Anyone eyeing a ministerial role needs my endorsement,” he stated.
He further questioned, “Could Hawa Koomson run campaigns in the Central Region without my backing? Who would heed her?”
