Martha Ankomah Sues Lilwin Over Defamatory Remarks
Ghanaian actress Martha Ankomah has sued actor Kwadwo Nkansah Lilwin over defamatory remarks about her.
Recently, Kumawood actor LilWin criticized Martha Ankomah for allegedly belittling Kumawood movies, stating, “Martha, those wealthier than you are often more humble and self-respecting. Are you truly a star? Who knows you? What have you achieved? I’m baffled why GTP chose Martha Ankomah as their brand ambassador over the likes of McBrown and Mercy Asiedu. Actors like Van Vicker and Roselyn Ngissah collaborate with us and even shoot Kumawood films. It’s surprising that you would make such statements. Were you intoxicated?”
He further added, “Actors like Patience Ozorkwor, Aki and Pawpaw, Mr. Ibu, and others have come to Kumasi to film. But refined actors like you, how often do Nigerians come to Ghana for movies? They’re the ones who invite you.”
In response to Lilwin’s disparaging comments, Martha Ankomah has taken legal action against him for disrespecting her.

The Ghanaian film industry finds itself in a contentious situation as actor LilWin accuses actress Martha Ankomah of showing disrespect towards Kumawood movies. Ankomah’s critical remarks about the local movie scene have ignited a discussion on the boundaries of criticism and respect within the industry.
Martha Ankomah, a notable figure in the Ghanaian film industry, is embroiled in a heated debate. Her comments regarding the narratives in Kumawood films, which she considers inferior to those from the Agya Koo era, have resurfaced, leading to a barrage of criticism.
In interviews conducted in 2017 and 2023, Ankomah expressed disapproval of the prevalent witchcraft themes in Kumawood films, deeming them uninspiring. These remarks did not go unnoticed, particularly by actor LilWin, who took offense at her disparaging comments.
Kwadwo Nkansah, popularly known as LilWin, didn’t hold back when addressing Ankomah’s comments. He accused her of disrespecting the Kumawood film industry and its talents. In a scathing social media post, LilWin criticized Ankomah, questioning her relevance following the decline of the movie industry.
LilWin’s frustration stems from Ankomah allegedly turning down an opportunity to collaborate with Kumawood, showing reluctance to work with stars based in Kumasi when approached by director Frank Fiifi Garbin. LilWin condemned Ankomah’s alleged remarks as disrespectful and damaging to the local movie industry.
