Minister of Education inaugurates UDS Governing Council

The Minister for Education, Mr Haruna Iddrisu, has launched the Governing Council of the University for Development Studies (UDS), crying out to individuals in it to most important consider the maintaining and protecting the morality and distinctiveness of the university.
Mr Abdulai Salifu, a former diplomat, is the Chairman of The Governing Council and Professor Seidu Al-Hassan, the Vice-Chancellor of UDS, is the Vice-Chairman of The Governing Council.
It includes other members like Professor Mamudu Abunga Akudugu, Mrs Bruce Akambotuu, Mr Mohammed Abdulai, Professor Terry Ansah, Dr Fatimatu Iddrisu, Dr Arnold Abubakari Mashud, Madam Magdalene Awunyeliya, Professor Edmund Muonir Der and Dr Yaa Nyarko, Mr Emmanuel Asampana, Mr Alhassan Issah Dokurugu and Mrs Abiba Nyar constituting the UDS Alumni Association.
Primary stakeholders who made their presence known at the occasion were, Queen Nozizwe Pearl Mulela, the wife of King Misuzulu KaZwelithini of the Zulu Nation in South Africa, Prof. Ahmed Jinapor, the Director-General of Ghana Tertiary Education Commission, and some individuals of the University for Development Studies (UDS).
Mr Iddrisu delivered Oath of Secrecy to Council Members and the Official Oath requesting them to give a helping hand to the Vice-Chancellor in warranting effectively working governance and educational distinction.
Mr Iddrisu said the launching shows the government’s maximum confidence in the Council’s distinctiveness and capabilities to stand in for the University’s top delights, stating, “You hold a duty to perform and that is to secure the morality and distinctiveness of UDS”.
Mr Iddrisu praised Members of the old Council for their committed ministrations and requested the new Members to improve much better upon that setted pace by spotting elevated levels for developing the foundation or institution.
He guaranteed them and said the government is willing to give them a helping hand and promised them no interference from other external parties or groups in their making of decisions.
The new Council Chairman, Mr Salifu showed his appreciation to President John Dramani Mahama for the trust he has in them and declared the Council’s dedication to promoting the aims, goals and also the foresight and vision of the University.
