NaCCA QR Code Scanner For Verifying Approved Books Out: Check how to scan here
The National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NaCCA) has introduced a uniquely designed QR code scanner that aims to help the general public verify instructional materials on the market.
With the new QR Code Scanner, one will be able to tell which books have been approved and those that have not. The text books and all other instructional materials, such as teacher guides, will be affixed with unique QR codes, which can be verified by the QR Code Scanner.
In a move set to take effect from January 2024, NaCCA will be implementing a new system where all approved instructional materials will be equipped with distinctive QR codes. However, materials that were previously approved by the Council would not include this feature.
It is hoped that the introduction of the NaCCA QR Code Scanner will contribute to transparency and accountability in the education sector.
Parents shouldn’t purchase any textbooks or instructional materials that the NaCCA QR Code Scanner hasn’t verified.
The press release by NaCCA emphasised the need to promote quality education in Ghana through improved learning and related outcomes at Ghana’s pre-tertiary level (KG 1–SHS 3).

More about the NaCCA QR Code Scanner for Verifying Approved Books
The NaCCA QR Code Scanner can be used by publishers, schools, teachers, parents, book vendors, and the entire Ghanaian society. The scanner makes it easier for stakeholders to determine whether or not a particular book has received approval from the NaCCA in real time.
Each book published and approved under the new Standard-Based Curriculum (SBC) has a unique QR code for pre-tertiary books.
Warning the public about the widespread availability of unauthorised items deceptively decorated with ‘NaCCA-GES’ certified seals, the Council emphasised the need for care. Schools and individuals can contact the Council or their local district education offices if they have any doubts about the materials’ legitimacy, according to NaCCA.
NaCCA expressed its dedication to fostering transparency and accountability within the education sector, with the QR Code initiative serving as a testament to that commitment. The Council called on all stakeholders to leverage this innovative tool, contributing to the collective effort to enhance the overall quality of education in the country.
